What is High Potency Detox & Liver Support with Resveratrol? ** Improved Formula (October 2009)! ** Our High-Potency Detox & Liver Support Formula with Resveratrol (previously called "ReLive") is a formula created to help detoxify and enhance the health of the liver. High-Potency Detox & Liver Support Formula with Resveratrol contains a potent blend of phytonutrients, including milk thistle seed extract. The liver is continually working to keep the body healthy and free of environmental toxins, and the High Potency Detox & Liver Support Formula has been designed to support this process. High Potency Detox & Liver Support Formula contains the following nutrients to support both phases of the liver's detoxification process: Milk Thistle Extract, Esterized Vitamin C, Complete B-Vitamin Complex, Methionine, Selenium, Indole-3-carbinol, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Resveratrol and others.
Who Should Consider High Potency Detox & Liver Support with Resveratrol? In addition to approximately 500 other identified roles of the liver, one of the best known, and a vitally important role of the liver is to detoxify and cleanse the body of harmful substances.
All blood that leaves the stomach and intestines flows directly to the liver, where the liver processes the nutrients and chemicals in this blood into forms that are more easily used by, or that can be safely secreted by the body. During this process, the liver breaks down harmful substances and excretes them into either the bile or the blood. Bile enters the intestine and leaves the body in feces. The by-products that the liver excretes into the blood are then filtered by the kidneys and leave the body in urine.
Consequently, it is important to provide this constantly-working, vital, detox organ with the nutritional support it needs to function optimally.

High Potency Detox & Liver Support is a specially designed formula created to enhance the health and function of the liver. The liver is continually working to keep the body healthy and free of environmental toxins, and High Potency Detox & Liver Support Formula has been designed to support this process. Liver detoxification is divided into two phases. In phase I, your liver either neutralizes toxins directly or changes them into something that can be neutralized by one of several enzyme systems in phase II. ReLive contains the following important nutrients and supporters of both phases:
Indole-3-Carbinol: Extracted from cruciferous vegetables, Indole-3-Carbinol is thought to be anti-mutagenic (it may be able to prevent unwanted cellular mutations that can arise from exposure to environmental toxins.)
Resveratrol in the news!
Resveratrol has recently been in the news because new studies on animals have shown that resveratrol supplementation has the same beneficial effects on longevity as a restricted-calorie diet -- specifically, up to a 40% increase in lifespan! (Wall Street Journal, October 30, 2006, New York Times, October 31, 2006, and CNN.com November 1, 2006.) This is obviously very exciting.
What is Resveratrol and Where Does it Come From?
Resveratrol is a phenolic compound that has been found to have strong antioxidant activity. Plants create resveratrol to protect themselves against the effects of poor growing conditions and severe weather. Resveratrol has been shown to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. There have been numerous studies that show the benefits of moderate red wine consumption on health. Red wine is fermented with the antioxidant-potent grape skins present; some studies suggest that the intake of red wine (and therefore resveratrol) may yield cholesterol-lowering effects.
What is Milk Thistle Extract / Silybum marianum?
The seeds of the dried flower of the Milk Thistle plant (Silybum marianum), containing the active silymarin complex, including the component silibinin.
Milk Thistle Extract: Threefold protection for your liver
Of all the herbal supplements you will find for sale on our site, Milk Thistle Extract may be the most intriguing. Milk Thistle has been shown to help protect and rejuvenate the liver in not less than three ways:
Milk Thistle is a powerful Antioxidant. Like any bioflavonoid complex, Milk Thistle exerts a powerful anti-oxidant effect. If you need to be reminded of how important anti-oxidants are, please visit our OPC Grape Seed Extract page.
Milk Thistle helps protect your liver. Milk Thistle may interrupt enterohepatic recirculation of toxins. The silymarin complex in Milk Thistle puts up a protective "shield" that may help protect against many liver-harming substances.7
Milk Thistle may help regenerate your liver. Did you know that your liver is the only internal organ in your body capable of regeneration? Milk Thistle's silymarin complex may actually help the liver to synthesize new proteins!7
How powerful is Milk Thistle?
Silibinin and other components of the silymarin complex in Milk Thistle were first discovered to be beneficial in treating liver diseases in Germany several decades ago. A favorite national pastime in Germany is mushroom collecting, a practice with inherent risks, such as the accidental ingestion of Amanita phalloides - the Death Cap mushroom. Consuming the Death Cap mushroom results in severe, usually deadly, liver damage. In fact, those that survive Death Cap poisoning have been so badly damaged that they most often require liver transplants to continue to live. Fortunately, silymarin binds to the liver cells, preventing the mushroom poisons from binding, and thus blocking their poisonous effect. The silymarin is also able to directly neutralize the poison itself, making it effective even if it is taken after the mushroom poison has been ingested. Ampules of milk thistle extract, for this very reason, are kept on hand in German hospitals where it is administered on an emergency basis for treating otherwise fatal Death Cap poisonings.7
What are Milk Thistle's limitations?
Milk Thistle Extract is truly a remarkable substance. According to some studies, it can halt and even reverse early stage liver disease in recovering alcoholics.8,10 If you are someone exposed to chemicals (especially inhalants) on a daily basis, Milk Thistle is for you. Milk thistle has even been shown to be a helpful adjunct in treating Hepatitis B and C.9,11 It can even help people with cirrhosis of the liver to live longer, but it cannot reverse cirrhosis.8-11 The best treatment, as always, is prevention through healthful living.
Side Effects May cause loose bowels for the first 2-3 days because of gallbladder stimulation, but this will subside.2
