What is Resveratrol?
Resveratrol (sometimes called Trans-Resveratrol) has received a great deal of attention in recent years. It’s a polyphenol compound found in certain plants and in red wine. It has antioxidant properties and has been investigated for possible anticarcinogenic effects. Resveratrol is a compound produced by grapevines, Japanese Knotwood, peanuts, and several other plants as a form of protection from environmental stresses.
Although Resveratrol can be obtained by adding red wine, grapes or peanuts to your diet, an 8-ounce glass of red wine provides approximately 640 mcg of resveratrol, while a handful of peanuts provides about 73 mcg of resveratrol. In short, you would have to eat a lot of peanuts and/or drink a lot of wine in order to receive the same benefits as you would from taking a supplement.
Whole Health offers a variety of Resveratrol products. So, if you are looking for a high potency supplement, consider the Extra Strength Resveratrol options. For a purely natural version see our Complete Wine Grape or Ultra Pure options (both containing ReserveNature Resveratrol). And, for a synergistic approach, our Pterostilbene, Fluxome, or Pomegranate Ultra products are excellent choices.
