Fluxome Ultra-Pure Natural Trans-Resveratrol from Fermentation
What Is Fluxome Ultra-Pure Natural Trans-Resveratrol from Fermentation?
Fluxome® Resveratrol is produced by a natural yeast fermentation process. Unlike other forms of resveratrol, Fluxome Resveratrol is an all-natural, minimally-processed ingredient that is produced entirely in the United States using only 3 pure ingredients: yeast, non-GMO sugar, and water.
This resveratrol is the World's purest form of naturally-derived trans-resveratrol available: 99.9% pure trans-resveratrol.
Available exclusively through Whole Health.
Why is Fluxome Ultra-Pure Resveratrol from Fermentation Better?
To understand why Fluxome Resveratrol represents such as breakthrough as a pure and natural ingredient, one must first know about the alternative sources of resveratrol.
The vast majority of resveratrol products are made by extracting resveratrol from the root of a plant called Japanese Knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum.) Japanese Knotweed is native to eastern China, Japan and Korea. Currently all knotweed-derived resveratrol is made in China. The reason knotweed is so commonly used is that this plant contains a greater concentration of resveratrol than any other plant, making extraction of resveratrol from this plant economical. The problem that comes from this approach is that extraction processes (in general) can concentrate every compound found in a plant as well as heavy metals and pesticides. In the case of knotweed, this can lead to a high concentration of an unwanted compound called emodin which naturally occurs in knotweed and acts as a laxative. Fortunately for the consumer, there are more sophisticated extraction processes that help the manufacturer concentrate the compound(s) they want, without concentrating the compounds they do not want. In fact, Whole Health sells some products containing resveratrol from knotweed; we require that our suppliers of this ingredient test for emodin, and we do not accept product with emodin at concentrations greater than 2%. Additionally, we test for the presence of heavy metals.
There are two other sources of resveratrol: chemical synthesis and natural fermentation.
Chemical synthesis is what is sounds like: take some chemicals, mix them together and produce a different chemical. Whole Health does not sell any products containing resveratrol produced from chemical synthesis.
Fluxome® Resveratrol is produced by a natural yeast fermentation process. Unlike other forms of resveratrol, Fluxome Resveratrol is an all-natural, minimally-processed ingredient that is produced entirely in the United States. The production is simple, using only three ingredients: Fluxome's proprietary strain of bakers yeast (Sacchromyces cerevisiae), US-grown and produced non-GMO sugar, and water. The fermentation process is similar to the process used to make beer; a process that has been used for more than decade in the natural products industry to produce the highest quality CoEnzyme Q10. After the fermentation process, the resveratrol is purified by separating it from the yeast. It is then dried and sifted into a fine powder.
The end result is the purest form of resveratrol available. Our independent laboratory analysis confirmed that this resveratrol is 99.9% pure trans-resveratrol. Since the resveratrol "bio-factory" is yeast, and not an extract, the product is natural and the quality is consistent. It is also sustainable and environmentally friendly. Unlike botanical extracts, there is no risk of over-harvesting, and there is no pesticide used. And, the end product contains no emodin, or any other unwanted chemical, since the resveratrol production is completely controlled.
We are proud to offer three different products using this important ingredient. Because resveratrol can be damaged by light, we have encapsulated these 3 products in opaque white (not clear) capsules to ensure maximum potency when you take them. These are gelatin-free capsules, and all 3 products are 100% vegan products.
The first product is 100mg of pure Fluxome trans-resveratrol per capsule.
Our third product that contains Fluxome's pure trans-resveratrol from fermentation is our Complete Wine Grape Complex. This product reconstructs everything good about wine grapes and red wine, and combines those extracts with a potent amount of resveratrol. This product contains OPCs, grape seed extract, grape skin extract, red wine extract, resveratrol, quercetin, and rutin. It is a wonderful everyday antioxidant that may impart significant benefits to cardiovascular health.
If you follow the news, then you likely know quite a bit about resveratrol, an antioxidant commonly found in red wine, grape skins and other plants.
Many people heard about resveratrol for the first time on Sunday, January 25, 2009, when the CBS News program 60 Minutes aired a segment about the stunning new research surrounding resveratrol. You can watch this segment to the right.
In this piece, CBS News Correspondent Morley Safer interviewed Harvard University researchers Christoff Westphal and David Sinclair, who had been pursuing the genetic link between resveratrol and enzymes called sirtuins for the previous 5 years.
Sirtuins are a recently discovered class of enzymes that appear to control the aging process. In this video, Safer, Westphal and Sinclair discuss the results of ongoing research aimed at identifying and isolating the exact component of resveratrol responsible for these lab results, in an effort to manufacture a pharmaceutical from this naturally-occurring compound. Much new research has been published in the years since this piece; see above for "Related News Articles" for some examples.
Previously "Live to 150...Can You Do It?" an ABC News and Barbara Walters Special (April 1, 2008), Barbara Walters talked to researchers about the stunning research on longevity and Resveratrol. A little over a year earlier, researchers examining resveratrol made front-page news with their studies showing that resveratrol increased the life expectancy of lab animals by over forty percent!
Resveratrol is believed to be made by the plants as part of their natural defense against adverse growing conditions and microbial attacks. While resveratrol is commonly found in red wine, it is only available in small amounts and those amounts vary greatly from wine to wine and bottle to bottle.1
Subscribers to our free monthly newsletter know all about this ongoing research. Below is a brief summary of the biggest headline-grabbing research results:
Resveratrol & Longevity
Resveratrol has been in the news over the last few years due to the results of several animal studies that found a link between resveratrol intake and significantly extended life spans. So far those studies have not been conducted on long-lived animals like humans. But the results of the animal studies are impressive to say the least. In 2003 researchers found that resveratrol increased the life span of a yeast by 70%.2 A follow-up 2006 study found a 56% increase in life span among a particular worm, Caenorhabditis elegans, and the common fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster.3 In 2006, a study of a short-lived fish also found an extension of the animals' lives and revealed that the resveratrol delayed the onset of age-related markers.4,5 But the real break-through news on resveratrol came in the form of two studies published in the fall of 2006.6 The first of the two studies was published in the highly regarded scientific journal Nature, and found that resveratrol not only extended life by 40% in lab mice, but those same mice were eating a high calorie, high-fat diet without developing the ill-effects, such as diabetes and heart disease, that are normally associated with that kind of diet. The mice still got fat, but they stayed healthy.
Resveratrol & Athletic Endurance
In December of 2006 the scientific journal Cell published a study from researchers from the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology in Illkirch, France, which reported that resveratrol doubled the athletic endurance of lab mice, controlled weight gain, and prevented diabetes.7
