GreenHealth™ Natural Multivitamin's Special Antioxidants and Supplements:

Spirulina

Spirulina is a microalgae it is named for its spiral shape. Algae are incredibly old life forms, responsible for producing and sustaining our oxygenated atmosphere. They are the basis of the food chain and the primary source of food for many animals. Spirulina is not a salt-water algae; it grows in fresh and brackish inland waters. It is packed with nutrients and energy.

Spirulina is a simply amazing food source that has been consumed variously throughout history by many human cultures. It can be grown almost anywhere, in water supplies that are not suitable for drinking (inland in brackish and fresh water ponds), and in existing desert areas without cutting down trees to make room. Spirulina yields 20 times more protein per acre than soybeans. It consists of 70 percent protein (compare to beef's 22 percent), 5 percent fat (good fats), and no cholesterol (it's a plant). Spirulina contains an impressive array of vitamins and minerals. This wonder food contains 8 essential amino acids (plus 10 of the 12 non-essential amino acids), fatty acids (including the heart-healthy GLA), digestive enzymes, and the pigments chlorophyll, porphyrin and phycocyanin--beneficial to the liver.

Barley Grass

Barley grass is a green grass and supplies a wide range of nutrients. Cultivation of barley has been occurring for over 9,000 years. Naturally absorbing nutrients from the soil, green barley grass leaves contain vitamin, herbs, minerals and chlorophyll. Highly available nutrients include Vitamins B1,B2,B6, B5 and B9 (Folic Acid), Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Copper, Phosphorous, Manganese, Zinc and Beta Carotenes.

Wheatgrass

Like Barley Grass, Wheatgrass is a tremendous source of Chlorophyll and it has highly available nutrients include Vitamins B1,B2,B6, B5 and B9 (Folic Acid), Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin E, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, and Phosphorous. It also contains over a dozen natural amino acids.

Alfalfa Juice

Alfalfa contains protein and Vitamins A, B1, B6, C, E and K as well as calcium, potassium, Iron, Zinc, Flavones and Isoflavones.

Green Tea Extract

Green tea an an outstanding antioxidant. Over the years there have been numerous studies that indicate that there may be some potential health benefits associated with consumption of green tea and green tea extract. Over the years there have been studies indicating that green tea may support a healthy immune system, may support normal heart function, may protect the brain, and may help people live longer. While most of these studies are epidemiologically based, the shear number of then and the finding make them worth noting.

Ginseng

Ginseng has long been used to fight fatigue and increase energy. The action of Ginseng is attributed a combination of groups of glycosides, ginsenosides, and saponins. The net effect of these compounds is to provide "adaptogenic" support for the person taking Ginseng. It may seem loosely conceived, but the adaptogenic effects of Ginseng are well supported by good research. According to The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, the term "adaptogen" has a specific set of criteria that must be satisfied before it can properly be attributed to a substance. These criteria, as stated in the above Encyclopedia, are that the substance:
  1. Must be innocuous and cause minimal disorders in the physiological functions of an organism
  2. Must have a nonspecific action (i.e., it should increase resistance to adverse influences by a wide range of physical, chemical, and biochemical factors)
  3. Usually has a normalizing action irrespective of the direction of the pathologic state

Citrus Bioflavonoids

Once referred to as “Vitamin P” (but no longer), Citrus Bioflavonoids come from the skin pigments of citrus fruits and they are crucial to facilitating the absorption of Vitamin C and are a necessary partner to any Vitamin C regimen.

Natural Enzymes

Enzymes (Digestive Enzymes) are chemical catalysts that change the rate of a chemical reaction without being consumed by the reaction. Digestive enzymes are catalysts the aid in the breakdown of food into its nutritional components during digestion. Each enzyme breaks down a specific macronutrient. For instance, pepsin breaks down protein into polypeptides, which in turn are broken down farther by trypsin and other enzymes to their root amino acids. Likewise lipase works to breakdown fats and amylases works to break down carbohydrates.

Specifically, enzymes can provide natural support for the following:
  • Proper digestion and absorption of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals;
  • Natural digestive health and reduction of bloating, gas and general indigestion;
  • Reduced susceptibility to food allergies.
