What is Fluxome Resveratrol & pTeroPure Pterostilbene Complex?

Resveratrol (pronounced "res-VER-ah-trawl") and pterostilbene (pronounced "tero-STILL-bean") are closely related antioxidant compounds that have been demonstrated to work synergistically to improve human health (meaning they produce a greater result when both are present, than they do separately.) Fluxome® Resveratrol and pTeroPure™ Pterostilbene are the highest quality resveratrol and pterostilbene products available.

Both resveratrol and pterostilbene are aromatic hydrocarbons called "stilbenes," both are naturally present in plants, and both are part of a plant's natural defense system. Both compounds have demonstrated significant potential health benefits. Both resveratrol and pterostilene have been tied to distinct heart health, memory, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits.

Why Is Our Fluxome Resveratrol & pTeroPure Pterostilbene Complex Better?

First, research has demonstrated that resveratrol and pterostilbene work synergistically, delivering greater potential benefits in combination than either compound does alone. Our Pure Resveratrol Pterostilbene Complex combines the purest forms of each of these ingredients in one product.

The second reason our product is better is quality. Only Whole Health can offer Fluxome® Resveratrol and pTeroPure™ Pterostilbene, the highest quality resveratrol and pterostilbene products available, both in a single product.

The vast majority of the resveratrol products are made by extracting resveratrol from the roots of a plant called Japanese Knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum.) Japanese Knotweed is native to China, Japan and Korea. Currently all knotweed-derived resveratrol is produced in China. There are two other sources of resveratrol: chemical synthesis and natural yeast fermentation.  Fluxome® Resveratrol is the only resveratrol produced by natural yeast fermentation, and it is produced entirely in the United States using only ingredients made in the United States.

pTeroPure™ pterostilbene is the purest form of pterostilbene available. pTeroPure™ pterostilbene was developed based on research conducted by the US Department of Agriculture and University of Mississippi and is produced under an exclusive license. pTeroPure is able to achieve a final concentration of 99% pure pterostibene, and only 1% inert "filler". There are other forms of pterostilbene that are extracted from Pterocarpus marsupium, an endangered species of tree in India, but they only achieve a concentration of 15% to 25% pterostilbene, and contain 75% to 85% other compounds that may not be beneficial. pTeroPure pterostilbene is clearly a better product.

Finally, because both resveratrol and pterostilbene can be damaged by ultraviolet light, we have encapsulated this product in white (not clear) capsules that block UV light to ensure maximum potency when you take the product. (These capsules are also gelatin-free and 100% vegan.)

What is pTeroPure™ Pterostilbene?

Pterostilbene (pronounced "tero-STILL-bean") is a naturally occurring antioxidant that is both structurally and functionally related to resveratrol. Both resveratrol and pterostilbene are phytoalexins--natural plant defense systems that have antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Pterostilbene is found in small berries, most notably blueberries and grapes. Chemically, pterostilbene is methylated resveratrol, meaning that a hydrogen atom (H) has been replaced with a "methyl group"--a carbon and 3 hydrogen atoms (CH3). This is illustrated in the diagram of the two compounds, to the right.

pTeroPure™ pterostilbene is the World's purist form of pterostilbene; over 99% pure. It was developed based on research conducted by the US Department of Agriculture and University of Mississippi and is produced under an exclusive license. There are other forms that are extracted from the heartwood of Indian Kino Tree (Pterocarpus marsupium), a threatened species of tree in India, but they only achieve a concentration of 15% to 25% pterostilbene, and contain 75% to 85% other compounds that may not be beneficial. Additionally, to make an extract from these severely threatened trees, you must kill them. Unlike the extract of Kino Tree wood,  pTeroPure™ pterostilbene is ecologically sustainable. So no matter how you view it--purity, concentration, and/or environmental sustainability--pTeroPure pterostilbene is the clear choice!

Pterostilbene may confer significant health benefits. Preliminary research has found that it may have anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Additionally, research suggests that pterostilbene may offer distinct heart health benefits, including helping to support cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and reducing LDL cholesterol oxidation, which all may lead to reduced heart risk. There is also research indicating that pterostilbene may help support memory and cognitive function. It also helps regulate blood sugar levels.

One distinct advantage pterostilbene has over resveratrol is that it has a greater half-life in the body. The half-life of pterostilbene is 7.5 times greater than resveratrol's half-life; giving pterostilbene more time to work in the body than resveratrol. The longer half-life in the body could mean that pterostilbene may have greater potential to improve human health than resveratrol. However, pterostilbene has been shown to work synergistically with resveratrol, protecting human cells from damage due to oxidative stress, and making dual supplementation of the two compounds potentially more beneficial than taking either alone.

Much like resveratrol, the level of pterostilbene in blueberries is extremely low. Clinically significant levels, in the range of 50mg, are not achievable through dietary sources. They can only be reached by supplementation.

What is Fluxome® Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound that has been found to have a strong antioxidant activity. Plants create resveratrol to protect themselves against the stress caused by things such as fungal and microbial attacks, poor growing conditions and severe weather. Resveratrol has been shown to reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and reduce total cholesterol. Recent studies on animals have shown resveratrol to dramatically increase life span, increase athletic endurance and to mimic the benefits of a calorie-restricted diet.

The vast majority of the resveratrol on the market is made by chemically extracting resveratrol from the roots of a plant called Japanese Knotweed, Polygonum cuspidatum. Japanese Knotweed is native to eastern China, Japan and Korean. Currently all knotweed-derived resveratrol is made in China.

There are two other sources of resveratrol: chemical synthesis and fermentation. Fluxome® Resveratrol is the only resveratrol produced by natural yeast fermentation. Unlike other forms of resveratrol, Fluxome® Resveratrol is an all-natural, minimally-processed form that it is entirely produced in the United States. The production is simple, using only three ingredients: Fluxome's unique strain of bakers yeast (Sacchromyces cerevisiae), non-GMO sugar grown and produced in the United States, and water.

The fermentation process is similar to the process used to make beer; a process that has been used to produce the highest quality CoEnzyme Q10 for more than a decade. After fermentation, the resveratrol is purified by separating it from the yeast. It is then dried and sifted into a fine powder. The end result is the purest form of resveratrol available.

Our independent laboratory analysis confirmed that this resveratrol is 99.9% pure trans-resveratrol, the World's purist natural trans-resveratrol. Since the resveratrol "bio-factory" is yeast, and not an extract, the product is natural and the quality is consistent. It is also sustainable and environmentally friendly. Unlike botanical extracts, there is no risk of over-harvesting, and there is no pesticide used.
