What is B-12 & Folic Acid?
Vitamin B-12 and Folic Acid Formula is designed to provide a to increase serum B12 and folate levels in the body. Lower levels of B12 and folate are associated with elevated homocysteine levels, low mood and energy levels, chronic fatigue syndrome and neurological disorders. B12 and folate are essential to general health for cell reproduction and DNA production. Folic Acid deficiency is correlated to an increased risk of heart attacks in men.
Why Is Our B-12 & Folic Acid Better?
Our sublingual (under the tongue) tablets rapidly increase B12 and folate blood levels through absorption through the tissues and blood vessels under the tongue. Studies have indicated that this method may be as effective as intramuscular injections.
Who Should Consider B-12 & Folic Acid?
People with a known B12 deficiency, a family history of heart disease or who have other risk factors for heart disease, need a natural mood and energy elevation, suffer from chronic fatigue, have certain types of anemia or follow a strict vegetarian or vegan diet.

Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid are two essential B vitamins that can play a crucial role in overall health.
Vitamin B12
Humans (along with other animals and plants) cannot produce vitamin B12, it can only be synthesized by bacteria that possess the requisite enzymes. Therefore B12 must be obtained through the diet. Good food sources of B12 are red meat (especially liver), shellfish, and milk. Eggs are often listed as a food high in B12, however eggs also contain a compound that blocks the absorption of the B12 in humans. Plants do not provide B12. This puts vegetarians and those on restrictive diets especially at risk for B12 deficiency.
Deficiency in vitamin B12 can bring about low mood, megaloblastic anemia and can mask folic acid deficiency. In the most serious cases, low B12 can lead to neurologic problems. B12 is not stored well in the body and is depleted rapidly in dieters, and caffeine and alcohol users. B12 is used throughout the body in methylation reactions and is particularly effective against low mood, moodiness, muscular weakness and fatigue and can be particularly effective when combined with s-adenosyl methionine.
Moodiness, restlessness, irritability, insomnia and impaired mental functioning (particularly in the elderly) can indicate a B12 deficiency and supplementation can cause dramatic improvement. 24-31
Folic Acid
Folic Acid deficiency is the most common vitamin deficiency and can cause low mood and energy levels. Furthermore, low levels of folic acid (Folate) are correlated to an increased risk of heart attacks in men.
Additionally, high blood levels of homocysteine have been linked to an increased risk of heart attack in most studies. 1-13 Homocysteine is an amino acid in the blood and too much homocysteine in the blood (plasma) is correlated to a higher risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease. Specifically, research suggests that homocysteine damages the inner lining of arteries and promotes blood clots by causing a scarring effect that allows calcified deposits to grow. Many cardiologists are now working to lower homocysteine levels in their patients. Although much of the evidence is compelling, we do not know yet that hyperhomocysteinemia (high homocysteine levels) is a causal factor for heart disease. There are over 20 studies going on worldwide currently with over 100,000 participants with the primary objective being to investigate the causal relationships between homocysteine levels and CVD.
What we do know for sure know is that adequate levels of Folate (folic acid) and vitamin B-12 have been shown to reduce homocysteine levels. 8,9,10 Our Vitamin B-12 and Folic Acid complex has high levels of each of these supplements to help lower homocysteine levels.
Folic Acid has been shown to reduce the risk of Neural Tube Defects (NTD’s), one of the most common forms of birth defect, which occurs, on average, in 6 out of every 10,000 births on average. An NTD is a birth defect occurring in the brain or spinal cord (backbone). The two major types of NTDs are anencephaly and spina bifida.
If you are considering Folic Acid for that purpose, we highly recommend our PrenatalHealth™ Prenatal Multivitamin. This product is designed to meet all of the nutritional needs of someone who is seeking to become pregnant, pregnant or nursing. Recommended dosages for Folic Acid during the Periconceptional Period range from 400mcg to 800mcg. Taken as directed, PrenatalHealth™ Premium Multivitamin Supplement provides 400mcg of Folic Acid daily and should be taken throughout the pregnancy.
Finally, a diet rich in Folic Acid is correlated with a reduced risk of precancerous colon polyps, perhaps indicating that folic acid consumption can reduce the risk of colon cancer. 18-23
